Bhutan’s Balancing Act (42mn)

In an earlier edition of Web of the Week we showcased a Ted Talk about Bhutan and its reputation as the happiest place on earth. This documentary gives another view of this fascinating country and highlights Bhutanese families with their joys and struggles. One family is sending their 6-year-old son to the monastery for the first time to start him on his journey to become close to the Buddha. Another segment is about a farming family’s efforts to become the first Bhutanese farm designated as organic.

And if you enjoyed that and haven’t seen it before, I would strong recommend our previous piece in which the president explains how Bhutan’s mission is to put happiness before economic growth and set a world standard for environmental preservation.  Just click on the image below to go direct to the 18-minute video.
